What is the quickest way to extract Daphnia ephippia from sediment samples?

I am currently in the Ukraine with a lot of sediment core samples (already sliced into sections) and only a set amount of time. So far I have extracted a few ephippia from my core slices and confirmed under a microscope. I am looking for advice on the most efficient methods for extraction.
