What is the purpose of DAPI staining in confocal microscopy?

I know that DAPI binds with DNA in the nucleus and produces fluorescence. But, there are many papers in which they just measure and compare transcription factors, e.g. FOXO1 within different samples. In those cases, I could not figure out, why they use DAPI staining?
