You could use MTT, but it can take several hours. So it might be cutting into your time to make decisions based on it. Your concern about redox sensitivity sounds reasonable too, but I don't have that data. For a quick check before ELISA, Calcein AM works great, or Trypan blue.
Uptake assays like MTT and Neutral Red are not the best as neutrophils don’t take up a lot of the viability dyes. We had good experience with the G6PD release assay. Check the paper below.

You could go with flow cytometry using a live-dead stain. You can use various commercially available kits as well.
