As far I know, in cloning just the nucleus from an animal is collected. In the egg of the mother, the remaining mitochondria is from a totally different individual. Mitochondrial genes are also responsible for some traits. Does it show any change in the genotype of the clone? Is it possible to collect both mitochondria and nucleus from donor animal and fuse in the egg cell to accomplish genetic purity?

Its my guess that, the nucleus isolated/picked for introduction into egg may not be pure and might have mitochondria associated with MTOC that is usually anchored close to nuclear/Golgi membrane. These mitochondria may in turn undergo fission to multiply inside zygote.
This cuestion is not offencive in any way ... it is indeed a very interesting point, from both the one who made the question and the firts that answer the question!!!
