his very interesting professional discussion. i have tried to construct SEM for my study. i have 5 latent variables in my model, depression (9 questions,), General anxiety (7 question), social anxiety (10 question) and PTSD (17 questions) and also somatic symptom (15 questions). depression and anxiety are my dependent variable and used second order SEM because anxiety measured using general anxiety, social anxiety and PTSD). The sample size of this study is 217. i had conduct data cleaning activity like missing record, outlier, unengaded response and common bias and other also check sample size adequate using KMO (Kmo=0.89). even tried to determain the SEM but the model not fit the required mode fit criteria, could you please help me with any think, What is the minimum acceptable range for factor loading in SEM? Thank you.
To meet convergent validity criteria, factor loadings should be greater than 0.7. Regarding model fit indices issues, have you checked modification indices of your model?
Loadings must be significant. There is no universal cutt-off....I am talking about parameter values.
I have used CFA with the cut of case load 0.6 and above, all loading are significant and all the required level acceptable like CFI,, at this stag use MI, during this some of the independent error terms of the independent latent variable linked to the other residual error, review the attachment, is it in good track or not??
For a newly developed items, the factor loading for every item should exceed 0.5. For an established items, the factor loading for every item should be 0.6 or higher (Awang, 2014).
Any item having a factor loading less than 0.6 and an R2 less than 0.4 should be deleted from the measurement model.
Before deleting any factor (such as loading less than 0.6), there must be a theoretical support/evidence that this sub-factor (construct) is not highly recommended to a proposed framework/model.
In general, at CFA, it required to focuses on final results of Model Fit instead of focusing on some factor loadings.
