The variety of known MOFs is so large, that is is difficult to give you a more specific answer without knowing which type of MOFs you are interested in. The most common synthetic method is certainly the hydrothermal synthesis starting from a metal salt and organic linker such as a di- or tricarboxylic acid. I hope this helps.
