The IC 50 for cancer cell lines is always altered by the number of passages and the rather predictable development of chemoresistance when performing continuous cell treatment over time to produce chemoresistance subline.
Check this article which show IC50s of 698.91 ng/ml (i.e. 865.1 nM) in PC3 docetaxel-resistant sublines (PC3-Rx) developed in the authors’ laboratory and 28.22 ng/ml (34.9 nM) for a nonresistance PC3 within only 10 passages
