In my current research for my master’s thesis, I am focusing on the effects of dehydration on the periventricular nucleus (PeVN) of the hypothalamus, but most informations I have found are about the anteroventral periventricular nucleus (AVPV), I want to know if there's a key difference between these two nuclei and what are the main functions of the PeVN.

Hi Maroua,
both PeVN and AVPV are periventricular nuclei located in the hypothalamus and involved in the regulation of physiological processes, they have distinct neurochemical characteristics and functions. PeVN is primarily associated with feeding behavior, energy balance, and stress responses, whereas AVPV is mainly involved in the regulation of reproductive functions, particularly in females.
