Innovation is a lot more about the new than smart.

Innovation can involve smart but smart does not necessarily need innovation.

It is dangerous but one may liken smart with analysis. Innovation is a lot more than analysis.

Innovation aims to be creative, original and even disruptive. Smart not necessarily. One can say smart is more about being right or appropriate or accurate. Correct.

Solving a rubic cube or puzzle is more smart than innovative.

One can perhaps also say that smart involves known yet unapparent answers and solutions, while innovation may be more unknown answers and solutions. Simply thinking and applying your mind versus creating.

You can perhaps also say smart is intelligence - intellectual, social, emotional, spiritual.

This does not necessarily imply innovation as innovation is not merely intelligence per se.

Smart technologies are often innovative, while innovations can be of very different types and few innovations apply to intelligent systems. Much more innovation concerns various computerized advanced information processing technologies, most of which are not about smart technologies. On the other hand, one of the key areas of developing technologies typical of the current fourth technological revolution, known as Industry 4.0, are solutions based on intelligent decision systems, intelligent systems developed in the Internet of Things technology and various generations of artificial intelligence. Many of these solutions are considered innovative if they are currently created and have many features of novelty and novel technological improvements and / or functions and applications.

Well, Innovative is giving new ideas or introducing different ideas/opinions from the existing based on speedy new smart technology whereas Smart is taking other ideas and working quickly.

Innovation is basically invention of new things.
