I live and study in Vienna, Austria. You know Austria is a wealthy and developed country, and Vienna is well-known for high standards and quality of living and it has been on the top of the list of the most livable cities in the world.
However, the coverage area of Eduroam wifi network is very limited here, and the speed of connection is too low. The coverage area is in some cases even smaller than the university buildings and campuses. For instance, in many parts of the AKH (the largest hospital in Austria and the main academic hospital used by the University of Vienna) or parts of buildings of TU Wien (Vienna University of Technology) the Eduroam wifi signals is very slow or even not existing at all.
It is really a shame and disappointing fact for me as a PhD candidate in Vienna that I can't really count on Eduroam and I'm always dependent on other internet providers to connect to the internet and do my research.
How well does the Eduroam wifi network cover and function at your university, city or country in general? Would you share your experience? How could such problems be solved?

Looking at global eduroam map we are able to see the coverage area of Eduroam wifi network in some of worldwide cities. So, when a scholar making a plan to visit some other city, i.e. the university there, it is recommended to check this map...
Next, at my university we have eduroam since October 2019, so we still have not complete it. Finally, during my visits to other cities/universities in 2018 and 2019 (Radbooud university in Nijmegen, KU Leuven, University of Split, University of Rijeka...) I had very good experience with eduroam, signal was very good as well as coverage in main campus area...

I have used it in different UK universities and it has always worked with my credentials from Malta. It is a great initiative which you only appreciate when you need it and it works!

CQuniversity is one of the few Australian Universities that is multi campus- CQUniversity having 26 campuses in every State of Australia. Using Eduroam WiFi is both effective, simple and fast connectivity. The link above illustrates how even local councils in Rockhampton have embraced the system allowing CQUniversity students connection in numerous public places even the river bank parks. Thus enabling online study to be convenient and easy in any location and online connectivity to be free from costs but high in quality of product.
In Europe it works perfectly. Every time I switch on my laptop, tablet, or mobile when visiting a university in Europe, it goes live with WiFi already on.

You are right! I can’t generalize! In recent years, I used it in many universities and polytechnic institutes in Portugal and at universities in Spain, France, The Netherlands, Belgium and the UK, without any problems. Not a single exception! However, the setting up and configuration must be done by the technical staff of each university. If the staff of your university, or university sector, doesn’t do the job, no one will do it for them. Usually, the maintenance of a spotless Internet infrastructure is a point of honor for most universities, but I admit that some universities may have different priorities.

It functions pretty well in the countries that have implemented it! It was a considerable progress for those who have to travel in their teaching and researching functions, as well as at home, if it applies. Either on the phone, or in the laptop, it is a perfect solution in or around the institutions that provide it. Should you belong, in some status, to the institution, you have no problem, using your institutional login and password. Of course, some initial technical help from the institution is needed! Go for it!
@Fernando Sadio Ramos thanks for your reply. Apparently you haven't read my description underneath my question; I live in Vienna, Austria, and in many places even at the main universities the network doesn't function well.
