I am culturing SH-SY5Y with DMEM. Should I use high glucose or low glucose media? Is low glucose sufficient for cell growth and maintenance? Is high glucose toxic to the cells? I've heard that high glucose is to simulate diabetic environments.

In the following article authors observed weak detachment and hindered proliferation when used LG-DMEM.

I am culturing SH-SY-5Y cell iine in DMEM High-Glucose, and they proliferate nicely, I am making 2-3 passages per week. When cultured in DMEM Low Glucose the cells are starved and proliferated slowly (1 passage per week). So I strongly recommend the High Glucose medium to culture SHSY5Y cells on daily basis,.
