What is the difference among Generalized Linear Mixed Models and Generalized Additive Mixed Models? Are GAMM non-linear regression models? Many thanks to whom will reply.
Dear Dr. Gloaguen,
Many thanks for your reply. So, how can I decide what kind of model is better to use? Thanks.
A Generalized Linear Mixed Models (GLMM) is of the form
y = a(1).A(1) + a(2).A(2) + a(3).A(3) + a(4).A(4) + ............. + a(n).A(n) + e
where
(i) a(1) , a(2) , a(3) , ............... , a(n) are coefficients ;
(ii) A(1) , A(2) , A(3) , .............. , A(n) are effects among which some are
fixed effects and some are random effects
& (iii) e is the error term which is random in nature.
On the other hand, a Generalized Additive Mixed Models (GAMM) is of the form
y = A(1) + A(2) + A(3) + A(4) + ............. + A(n) + e
(i) A(1) , A(2) , A(3) , .............. , A(n) are effects among which some are
& (ii) e is the error term which is random in nature.
Good morning,
Many thanks to both of you.
