What is the criteria of protein selection for performing ELISA and Surface plasmon resonance?

In literature SPR is generally done through ectodomain of protein. Can we use same ectodomain containing protein for performing ELISA (suppose we want to check of a particular compound's binding affinity by ELISA)?
