First of all thank you for frank answer dear scientist!

Despite the narrow audience, scientific publishing is a remarkably big business.  In order to make money, a traditional publisher – say, a magazine – first has to cover a multitude of costs: it pays writers for the articles; it employs editors to commission, shape and check the articles; and it pays to distribute the finished product to subscribers and retailers. All of this is expensive! But in science world we should not involve in this circle!

Science and knowledge belongs to everyone all around the world.

Initiative of RG is very much in favour of upcoming scholars. Usually during Studentship getting articles freely from reputed scientists and researchers along with discussions with the one who actually performed the experimentation is really a good thing which not only encourage the youth but also evolve them at international platform.

RG must continue with this sharing platform...

• The giant publshers should be magnanimous enough to compete with themselves and with ResearchGate as well as similar initiatives. The world is now a global village and young people around the globe need access to magnanimous initiatives.

I am constantly asked by colleagues: Why do not you publish your research in international journals?

Which is often in the English language, which most of our students do not know well. It is often expensive to publish, and the worst is that our students cannot see it, with the cost of obtaining it.

Institutions that make profit and invest in science should not control the dissemination of science and the results of scientific research should not be exclusive to those who can afford to pay

Thank you to raise this question. Not only researchgate but also many social platforms. However ,RG has a big database for articles. That good path for scientists specifically in developing countries to update and sharing knowledge. The battle between the companies and RG would limit accessing to some articles in RG. The other question is why these companies sue predatory journals which affect on the quality of research and publishing.

Please Germany had been nice to poor countries who has hard working upcoming brains, I hope they are not trying to strangle the little source of knowledge they rely on.secondly some publication channels ask for cost of publication 10x the full salary of a worker in developing nation. What is their motive.

We must remove the greed for money from science because it slows development down!

Publishers have copyrights to control dissemination of information beyond their benefits as they provide a platform to authors. If RG like open access platforms will be used extensively and there would be strong review process to observe authenticity and validity of research, it would replace the journals to be such a platform.

in my opinion, the paper has been in research gate were uploaded by the authors itself who have the authority to do such. so there is no point in forcing them to remove from the Reseach gate. moreover, those papers helpful to the entire scientific community.

In my view, for dissemination of knowledge RG is doing excellent job.Collaborating with Giant publishing houses may pose problem as most of them are inclined for business.

Here is the basic differences between RG and other publishers.

Therefore,it is suggested for the interest of spreading science among interested, RG may work independently.

Most of the Big Publishing Houses don't have any form of consideration for any scientist poor resource setting to publish in their Journal ,because they were designed for the rich Universities and rich scientist to Publish Only ,now that new Publishing platform are now on board for oncoming and independent scientist to publish , it has now threatened their income ,they forget that knowledge may originate from unlikely sources and places and must give room to all voices to be heard , the same goes from International scientific Bodies and most Universities in western Europe , they must open up,put some level of consideration for poor people with brains and reduce the rigorousness for getting a little scholarship and internship spaces for people working in poor countries ,these are the reasons why discoveries are slower to be known than it should be.

Also ,i hope in earnest that the Honorable court do not listen to these money mongers old cartel and elites and strike off the case from the court proceedings.Money mongers publishing platform should back-off and let the poor live,we have been deprived ,enough is enough.

It will lead to devastating effects on the Research hope of Researchers from developing countries and low income countries. Also it is dictatorship of Publishers because when Researcher want to share his work then how can a publisher prevent them to do so ? Researchers are adding their work not publisher's.

I think it will cause the drainage of huge knowledge from the history and it will really harmful for the mankind as many of scientists have piled the collections losing their neurons. It will be really a injurious and suicidal event.

My kind advice to the rich and big Publishing platform is this. Foremost perform self reflection on your marketing board ,by subsidizing cost of publication for papers coming from poor resource setting and countries,secondly increase the number of acceptable Research article per copy of Journal print which will give allowance for the increase number of articles ,move from closed access to open access,because there is global inflation ,people and society cannot afford cost of living let alone publication fees nowadays and organization are also relenting for financial support.

I have no way of predicting how the court case will come out, but even if the publishers win, I think it would be a mistake for them to enforce withdrawal of papers from ResearchGate and similar sites that were originally published in their journals. Though publishers do sustain costs of publication, I suspect it is likely that the vast majority of those costs are supported by subscriptions and advertisements and that reprints sold to non-subscribers are more than a small revenue line. Furthermore, in my opinion, true scientific journals should never pay authors to write their articles. In my opinion, grants for scientific and scholarly work include the payment to authors for writing up their work; and, as we know, peer reviewers also do not get paid. To the extent that editors are paid, the funding often comes from professional organizations, not from the publishers. So, for publishers to forego payment for articles that are on sites such as ResearchGate could be considered a demonstration of their desire to see that the articles they have published are good enough to garner a large readership, potentially a much large readership than the regular subscriber list for the particular journal.

I am a peer reviewer for many journals and as you mentioned we are never paid, and never be paid as an author, therefore what happened on lots of money?

Anyway, we should wait and see the court result.

For the first time in history, scholars can communicate directly about recent developments in their fields thanks to Researchgate. More importantly, this service provides an amazing venue to connect people from different cultures seamlessly and painlessly. Clearly, money is at the center of most litigations and I am personally willing to support Researchgate continue with its journey even if I have to pay monthly fee to help them deal with publishers. This situation isn't like sharing songs where the singer receives royalty. Scholars don't normally get paid to write a journal article or answer questions posted on RG. Thanks you for bringing awareness to this issue.

Knowledge dissemination at free will be checked resulting in disaster in science.

ALL scientific articles should be OPEN ACCESS because who wrote them have been able to do thanks to tax money
