What is the centre frequency to be adopted for Rayleigh damping for dynamic analysis in FLAC 2D?

I am inputting a sine wave of frequency 2Hz as dynamic input for seismic response analysis of reinforced earth wall. Should I use the input frequency or natural frequency of the system as centre frequency for Rayleigh damping? Will I be able to find out the natural frequency using FLAC itself.

Hi Anusree K V,

When inputting a value for the center frequency input associated with Rayleigh damping, I usually input what I think the natural frequency of the system is. If it is an embankment dam for example, we could assume that the natural frequency is going to be in the range of 1 Hz to 2 Hz. In that case, one could choose to use 1.2 Hz for instance. This is regardless of the frequency content of the dynamic load.
