Personally, i used them both to study genotype explant source and plant growth regulators on callus initiation ANOVA . Statistica is very simple to use specially for non specialist like me but you can 't get homogenous groups

For experimental design you should using completely randomized designs.

for studying the effects of one primary factor without the need to take other nuisance variables into account.

I believe that your tissue culture lab must be very sterile.
