What is the best way to model bolts in FEA for a linear dynamic analysis? is it beam modeling, solid modeling or something else? Remember that in solid modeling we have the problem of singularities at the bolt shoulders and stress-linearization does not work well at those locations. Also what are the failure criteria as per the standards?

I recommend theories of failure, to decide the failure criteria.

Friends, I am asking this question primarily because there are standards available to judge failure of pressure vessels (ASME standards). They work on basis of stress-linearization. Are similar standards available for bolts?
