The answer of this question is totally depending on what is the host cell you will use (e.g Bacterial, Plant or animal cells). For example I prefer agro bacterium for plant cells. Heat shock and electro-poration for bacterial cells. Microinjection for animal cells. The attached paper described three different transformation methods (Agrobactrium, heat shock, Gene gun) to achieve the results.
