I am starting to work with Schwann cells. We have a nice population of more than 90% SC obtained from rat pup sciatic nerves. We used an antibody from abcam that we used for IHC also but we are not very happy with it in culture. Does anybody have a suggestion for which antibody is best for SC in culture?

Abcam has a very good Anti-S100 antibody (ab66041) which is rat reactive. This antibody is good for IHC and WB.

I recommend to use a free antibody database available at labome.com. For antibodies to S100 you can check the following link: https://www.labome.com/review/gene/human/S100-antibody.html. EMD Millipore offers S100 antibody (Chemicon, AB941) used in immunohistochemistry - paraffin section on rat samples at 1:60 (ref: Hsu et al, Muscle Nerve. 2015). Sigma-Aldrich has S100 antibody (Sigma, SAB4502708) which was used in immunocytochemistry on rat samples at 1:100 (ref: Chen et al, J Mol Neurosci. 2015). Also, Invitrogen provides S100 antibody (Thermo Fisher, MA5-12966) suitable for immunohistochemistry and immunocytochemistry.
