What is the best method to treat young Kids, once they are not in listening mode?
Child Psychology needs to be studied. If the child is not in a listening mode, some where parenting is not proper. Parents must inculcate the habit of listening in the mind of child. The parents must develop in the child respect for others. Auoob has very rightly said that we have to make our child good listener so that he can be shown the right path.
Any way in this situation, the child is required to be slowly pushed to change his mind and mood from non listening to listening mode by bringing all matters wherein he is more interested. Slowly he will alter his mood and start listening the parents.
Getting their attraction with what you know they love better that which is stealing their attention.
Defiantly, no one can generalized a norm of response for such mode!
I think we have to raise our kids to be a good listeners which make it easy to guide them to the right path, and as they stop listening! We have to re-evaluate our strategy!

I think that the best method would be to stop what you are doing for a moment and try to organize some kind of educative game which would be connected with what you are currently teaching Until the attention is regained

Spend a good time with your kids....Treat them friendly.....They will surely listen
Young kid they would like to remain in their own mood & in this case they will not keep their attention on any direction.For this in order to divert their mind parents must find out their interest under the expression of their eyes ,face by showing the various items & in their interest parent should keep the same nearer to the line of the child.
When child is not in a mood under all the loving care parent should divert the mind of child by showing item of their liking the child may come with concentration & parents should also know the expression of the child then parent will realize that their child has come out from the mood .
This is my personal opinion
They will listen instantly if you change into a game mode: design a project in the form of a game where everyone participates.
The answer of Dr K N Sheth is appreciated. Over pampering the child hampers the growth of the child. The parents need to teach how to respect people through interaction with the child.
Engage him by trying out his favorite hobby or sport. It works for my kids.
By introducing audio video to the child which after watching will let the child as quedtions
do not insist on them ignore, ask questions, do not criticize them directly
As a mother of two daughters...what I have learnt is
When they are not in mood leave them alone
Give them space and time to come back to you
when you can explain them properly
you an not force them to do any thing.
No shouting be kind and silent...they will understand and will come back to listen to you
Play with them , just do what they ask you to do and give them all the attention they need (self-confidence booster !!)
I am a mom of three children. many times I tried to talk to them while there were not in listening mode. The best way to get their attention is to repeat my words, quietly and wait.
Act Practically, your words will have little to no impact if your words don't match your deeds. So if you want your child to do something, do it by yourself in front of him/her again and again. For example, If you will say him "keep away from mobile sweetheart it will destroy your eyesight" whereas using mobile in front of him/her for a long time will bring a bad impression.
