Professional life lesson-to keep on researching! No pebble is too small to look under, no rock too big to turn over, no opinion too entrenched to contest.
Life lessons-the Puritanism of this site with its dubious religious tropes and fixed ideas of the crowd, although their professional motivations are usually of the highest, do not seem to want to know genuine life lessons. Sad, really, because life is challenging and fun.
I learned something very important from Japanese during my stay in Japan: Long term vision is very powerful. Focus and work hard for your long term vision. I think this is the reason Japan is ahead of other countries in many fields.
I knew two sisters. The younger was sick for several years. The older was asking everybody when the sick sister would die to let her live happily ever after. What happened? The older sister died seven years before the sick one. This was a life lesson for me. Never predict the death of a human being. Only God knows.
I have learned to relentlessly knock on the doors of success because no matter the difficulty its ears may be, one day the success pleas will be heard so keep working hard toward your goal.
Personal front I have learnt in a bitter way that if you have a problem/ pain you and only you will suffer none will come to rescue...even the closest of close...So take very good care of yourself, never depend on anyone blindly.
Professional front too I learnt a lesson ...helping some one should not make you to expect help in return...don't be discouraged if they don't respond properly....keep helping people, your help may come from unexpected people.
1. That we will not always be around. We are here to play our part on the stage of life and leave the scene when our time is up. Whatever we do should count well, so when we leave the scene those watching will be glad we came up stage to play our part so well.
2. To know when to choose kindness over being right.
Never give up my ideal of living in peace and harmony with myself, the others, and the universe. As I see it to fulfill this triplet is to be a citizen of the world.
Understand that life is not a succession of linear events, but the result of an interaction of complex, changing phenomena that make each person different. In the effort to understand and deal with the qualities of each person we find every day the great lesson of life.

You are responsible for your own happiness and success. If you do not honor your God and your family you are responsible for the results. If you do not work past difficulties and overcome them, them it it you that needs to look in the mirror. Be happy! Work hard! Love your family! These are the lessons that lead to success.
One prime lesson learnt; that you can never ever judge people by your own standards, especially if your standards are high and/or naive.
Mine tend to be both in that I think everyone is genuine, accountable, believes that everyone has the right to develop professionally, and does not lie or try to manipulate you.
And my bete noire, that someone does something because one believes in it, not because 'one looks good' doing so.
It's basic, but it was vital to learn a phrase that my mother taught me: if you want to study, study. In that, his whole philosophy was summarized: doing, really doing, what one wants to do; what one sets as a goal.
I have learned that you should NOT assume that good practices and ideas that have potential to benefit most, if not all, will simply happen. Instead, earn respect from your community by modeling good practices and show concern for all in what you say and do; then step up and lead, as you can, to achieve such goals.
Give thanks, and support, for those whom you notice who are doing the same in the present and in the past. Enjoy every opportunity you have to make a positive difference in (professional) life. The struggle is necessary if the good is to succeed.
Looking forward to continue reading other's contributions to this meaningful discussion!
Life has many challenges, but it is how we respond to these challenges that will make all the difference. Be positive, rise above these trials and tribulations, embrace them, and use your strength within to overcome these obstacles. Anything is possible if you desire the happiness that you deserve. Happiness does not always enter your life like a guest, but seek it out and you will find that making your own happiness is fulfilling.
At I time when I was overcome with deadlines and decisions (new job, dissertation & family) my father flew out to have dinner with me and calm me down. He told me to step back and prioritize those things that really matter; he said these words - will it matter in 10 days? will it matter in 1 year? will it matter in 5 years? will it matter in 10 years? will it matter in 15 year? If it will matter in ten or fifteen years then its important that you address it right away, everything else may just be a passing concern. It has helped me when I felt overwhelmed to place things that "really" matter into perspective. I have often asked these same timeline questions to students who come into my office in a panic to help them better prioritize their lives and activities.
My favorite lessons in the life that your work never can another do it. your children never can another take car of him. don't delay work from today to tomorrow. if the happy moment come to you don't loss it profit it in the maximum.
Dear Prof. Hussin Jose Hejase - Thank you for your thoughtful comment. I do agree that there is so much wisdom and genuine desire to share intimate thoughts to help others. My deepest appreciation to all and to you. Amir
Thank you for such a simple question that encourages self-reflection.
I would imagine that the important life lesson in the present may not be the same important life lesson in the future or the same as it was in the past.
"Don't look for problems. If they're big problems they'll make themselves known. If they're little problems, they'll work themselves out. ' is the current life lesson that has been important to me. This could also be stated as 'Don't micro-manage"
When you come from a place where they told you that you will never achieve much because that is the way it is, NEVER GIVE UP, seams like a very good lesson to live everyday. Also ALWAYS BE OPEN TO LEARN AND TO NEW OPORTUNITIES, NEVER CONSIDER FINISHED YOUR LEARNING PROCESS.
