Well, I usually used the RNAplus protocol from MP Biomedical for this. The Qiagen kit is good too... and faster.

What are you purifying from? Tissue? Biofluid? What type and quantity?

The Qiagen RNA isolation kit is great for qPCR quality RNA.

I have had good luck with the Qiagen RNeasy for cells and brain tissue.

I still use TriReagent.

Hey! I'm not really experienced in RNA extraction but recently I had to do it in various occasions and Promega's SV Total RNA Isolation System worked really well for me... Fast and easy protocol and a good RNA yield and quality. The price is also fine I guess! PD: I worked with a fungal material.

I've used Qiagen RNeasy mini kit for NGS, and it worked really well.

Qiagen is good, but it works a lot better if you do Trizol extraction and then you combine it with the Qiagen Kit

I would say RNeasy kit from Qiagen. You can also do with Trizol but just give two good washes in 75% ethanol in the last before suspending your RNA in mol bio grade water to ensure complete removal of any residual traces of phenol, salts or any other contaminants. This will take care of your A260/230.

Hi Anjan, try Masterpure RNA Isolation Kit from Epicentre, for me is one of the best. Nice RIN numbers. Eventually, you must extent DNAseI step up to 40 min. This tip is always recommended because most of RNA isolations kits do not remove entirely DNA with manufacture's recommendations. Avoid to use column-based kits, they lose a lot of RNA because column saturation and additionally they do not retain pretty well the small RNAs (i.e miRNA or short mRNAs < 200 nt). Good luck!

a combination of Trizol or triPure with Purelink RNA kit from life technologies is the best.

I used Trizol and afterwards the Oligotex mRNA Mini Kit - works fine!

We use RNeasy from Qiagen since a decade and never had problems.

Trizol! Fast & easy, although there will be some contaminants. I usually extract with trizol then purify the RNA with the Life Technologies PicoPure RNA isolation kit. According to the kit it can be used for extraction too, but it didn't work out as well for me as it did when I extracted with trizol.

Definitely wouldn't recommend trizol for protein isolation though....

Definitely, if you want a fast kit with good yesld and high purity, I would suggest the RNA easy kit from Qiagen. There are different type basing on the amount of starting material you have, and you can perform a DNAse digestion on column if needed (but you will need to buy the DNAse I separately).

For the RNA world, AMBION products are the first-class :)

Trizol is the best choiche for almost every application

I used a kit from Qiagen and it works very good

i used Quagen, Sigma, and Trizol based kit form Invitrogen, and found the result of Trizol is the best. If you are not did before just try with Trizol.

Conventional method is the best one: Trizol treatment followed by chloroform treatment and ethanol precipitation.

Generally will results very good yields

There are several of them but i now rely on RNA extraction kit by Jena Biosciences, it is cheap faster and gives high yield of RNA. I just ordered for another 250 reaction kit and it cost me less than Euro 400 minus shipment.
