Failure of the cervix to dilate at parturition is one of the major cause of dystocia in ewes and does in our clinic. Does respond fairly good to PG or Dexamethasone treatment. In contrast, ewes badly respond to this approach with undesirable complications for the fetus (death, emphysema, ....) and for the dam. Are there other approaches, especially when the owner do not agree to perform the CS? Also, what is the logic cause for this difference between does and ewes in response for treatment?
