I understand that the protein is colored from N to C terminus starting with blue, till red.

But what is the basis for the segmentation in coloring?

It is not based on secondary structure, since a single long loop can be differently colored in this setting. Or two adjacent alpha helices will be colored the same color.

Is it just that a different color is assigned after every 70-100 residues?
