Dear Colleagues,
Thank you very much for opinion in advance.

In my opinion, Research methodology is the following thing. If you have an research idea, Research methodology is choosing a right method to collect the data in order to enhance your knowledge. in other words, If you would like to share (argue) your idea, you intend to prove with the data outcomes produced from the methods. Simply, Research methodology is choosing the right method to produce favourable outcome.

Research methodology should be based on experimentation first to obtain an understanding of the subject, then make a conjecture (theorize); and try to find ways to refute your conjecture. In this process, you can reject or improve the conjecture. If the conjecture survives, you have also shown that the theory stands every scrutiny.
Some scientists instead of trying to refute their conjecture, spare no effort to prove it. With a carefully orchestrated preeminent any theory can be proven, which shows finind evidence for a theory being correct is inadqute. But the best way is to find ways that the theory fails.

‘To strive after knowledge’ If this knowledge is controlled by the choice of a method, or theoretical model, what kind of knowledge can we suspect.
Thank you, Shafagat,
Research methodology is the system of studying in a science. The objective of methodology is to get objective methods and applying them in the research.
Dear @Mariano Ruiz Espejo ,
Thank you very much for opnion.

The research methodology is a collection of tips to help you get the kind of "methodological excitement", which will serve as psychological fuel during the research. In mathematical texts, methodological considerations are qualified as imposing your own interpretations and therefore must be omitted at all or placed in prefaces or introductions.
Thank you for the invitation.
Research methodology is a methodology, as much as possible accepted, a researcher may apply to test the validity of a hypothesis and to draw conclusions which may be used as the start for the test of the validity of a new hypothesis.
I consider that research methodology is the fundamental stone of science, irrespective of discipline.

As per literature the term methodology has been defined as “the science of method or arrangement”
Research methodology
Definition
The process used to collect information and data for the purpose of making business decisions. The methodology may include publication research, interviews, surveys and other research techniques, and could include both present and historical information.

Research methodology can be defined as the basic principles, processes and procedures involved in undertaking a study geared towards solving a particular identified problem/s. It focuses on the methods adopted in the collecction and analysis of data.
A methodology is a plan to rationally and procecimentally collect and analyze data in order to prove the intended objectives.
Dear Shafagat:
In my view, a research "method" involves a specific procedure in order to obtain knowledge on a certain parcel of reality. Different methods usually produce different results that may be compatible or contradictory. Specially in social sciences, there is much controversy about the adequate methods to study certain phenomena (for example, quantitative vs. qualitative approaches). Anyway, the procedure must always be systematic and able to be replicated. .
Hello Shafagat;
Research methodology generally refers to a systematic and scientific method of enquiry and may include the following:
-understanding the nature of the problem to be studied and identifying related knowledge.
-reviewing literature to understand how others have approached or dealt with the problem.
-collecting data in an organised and controlled manner so as to arrive at valid decisions.
-analyzing the data appropriate to the problem.
-drawing conclusions and making generalization
-making suggestion for future studies.

*Inquisitiveness
*Intuition
*Intelligence
The above three covers all the strategies/techniques required for a search to find some unique proposition/fact.
Research methodology is a science of studying how research is to be carried out. Essentially, the procedures by which researchers go about their work of describing, explaining and predicting phenomena are called research methodology. It is also defined as the study of methods by which knowledge is gained.

Dear Shafagat Mahmudova,
Research Methodology encompass the following stages:
Define goals and objectives
Identify characteristics that need studies?
Assess existing knowledge on topic
Identify Implementation methods
Identify Tools required for research
Identify materials that need to be developed
Justify as to why we chose this approaches
Plan for research
Layout/Outline of research work
Step-by-step research conduction procedure
Initial Prototype tests
Create opening points and closing points of research
Create evaluation strategy
Creation of new research content
Creation of Demo/Actual work
Creation of Manual for implementation
Creation of Reference Materials
Creation of Testing & Documentation
Drafting and Proofreading
Procedure for development/delivery
Install/Test/Creations
Line Test/ Roll-out and its impact
Understanding the cause and effects, identifying the causes and hypothesize the correlation between them as well as input/output. then validate the correlation/model by conducting experiment and/or mathematically.
An effectively written methodology section should:
Introduce the overall methodological approach for investigating your research problem. Is your study qualitative or quantitative or a combination of both (mixed method)? Are you going to take a special approach, such as action research, or a more neutral stance?
Indicate how the approach fits the overall research design. Your methods should have a clear connection with your research problem. In other words, make sure that your methods will actually address the problem. One of the most common deficiencies found in research papers is that the proposed methodology is not suitable to achieving the stated objective of your paper.
Describe the specific methods of data collection you are going to use, such as, surveys, interviews, questionnaires, observation, archival research. If you are analzying existing data, such as a data set or archival documents, describe how it was originally created or gathered and by whom.
Explain how you intend to analyze your results. Will you use statistical analysis? Will you use specific theoretical perspectives to help you analyze a text or explain observed behaviors? Describe how you plan to obtain an accurate assessment of relationships, patterns, trends, distributions, and possible contradictions found in the data.
Provide background and a rationale for methodologies that are unfamiliar for your readers. Very often in the social sciences, research problems and the methods for investigating them require more explanation/rationale than widely accepted rules governing the natural and physical sciences. Be clear and concise in your explanation.
Provide a justification for subject selection and sampling procedure. For instance, if you propose to conduct interviews, how do you intend to select the sample population? If you are analyzing texts, which texts have you chosen, and why? If you are using statistics, why is this set of statistics being used? If other data sources exist, explain why the data you chose is most appropriate to addressing the research problem.
Describe potential limitations. Are there any practical limitations that could affect your data collection? How will you attempt to control for potential confounding variables and errors? If your methodology may lead to problems you can anticipate, state this openly and show why pursuing this methodology outweighs the risk of these problems cropping up.

Research Methodology:
A planned approach toward proffering solution(s) to a well defined problem using tested analytical technique.
Well according to me research methodology deals with procedure of doing a research. its included everything starting from making a proposal, creation of hypothesis, acquisition of data, analysing the result with proper justification and at last getting is published in academic media (journal/conference)
What is research Methodology?
Generally research methodology encompasses the following:
Dear Dr. Shafagat Mahmudova,
Research methodology is the process comprising of adapting of approach, methods of data collection, methods of data analysis and acquiring the source of information and their classification.
Research methodology can be definrd as "the strategy or architectural design by which the researcher maps out an approach to problem-finding or problem-solving.
A Framework for Research Methodology is defined in the attached link.
http://maaw.info/ArticleSummaries/ArtSumBuckley76.htm
Methodology is the systematic, theoretical analysis of the methods applied to a field of study. ... Typically, it encompasses concepts such as paradigm, theoretical model, phases and quantitative or qualitative techniques. A methodology does not set out to provide solutions - it is, therefore, not the same as a method.
Research methodology is the science of studying how research is done scientifically. It is way to systematically solve a research problem by well defined logically adopted steps.

Dear Colleagues,
Methodology - a logical organization of human activity consists in defining the objectives and the subject of research, approaches and guidelines in its jurisdiction, the choice of means and methods for determining the best possible result.
The purpose of the study is to find the most effective options for the control system of the structure and organization of its functioning and development. But this is an overview of the purpose. In reality, the study pursues multiple objectives, such as quality control monitoring. formation of an atmosphere of creativity and innovation management system, timely detection of problems, which aggravation in the future can complicate the job training of personnel management, assessment strategies, and so forth.
Objectives of the study can be current and prospective, general and detailed, regular and occasional.
Any research methodology begins with the selection, formulation and formulation of its objectives. The object of research is the control system. But methodologically it is very important to understand and take into account the class of the system. It belongs to a class of socio - economic systems. This means that a fundamental element of it is people, human activity determines the characteristics of all the processes of its functioning and development. Links, thanks to which there is the system, characterized by complex and contradictory relationship between people based on their interests, values, motivations and attitudes.
No matter how sophisticated the modern technology, their role depends on the people's interests, motives and Development of. The control system is based on human activity. You can explore the technique, but you can not explore it in isolation from humans and all factors of its use in his work.
The subject of investigation is the problem. The problem - it is a real contradiction, which requires their permission. The operation of the control system is characterized by a variety of problems that appear as a contradiction strategies and management tactics, market conditions and the company's capabilities, qualifications of personnel and the need for innovation and so on. Research is needed to solve these problems, some of which are "eternal" and other transient or maturing .
The purpose is the base of choice and recognition of problems in the study.

Why should I learn Research Methodology?
From initiation of a research idea to the ultimate culmination in publication there are many segments; initiation of a research idea, thorough literature search, formulation of a research question, proper study design, possible source of funding, conduction of research, analysis of data obtained, proper interpretation of results and publication in a peer-reviewed journal. For those who are involved in conduction of research, it is mandatory that they perform the research well to curtail wastage of time and money. They are also expected to publish it later in a peer-reviewed journal so that the research can be presented to the world without any ambiguity. Those who are not involved in conducting research themselves, are the end users of the fruit of such tedious efforts and should at least be able to differentiate between good and bad science. Only good science needs to be adopted and followed. There are many examples of biased researches in literature. It is not possible to differentiate between biased research outcomes from unbiased ones without a proper understanding of each aspect of research.

It is the scientific way to achieve the scientific goal by following the scientific mechanisms to arrange ideas and correct sequencing of the unknown to the known through gathering information and conducting experiments and research writing simple and clear style.
Research Methodology
“Methodology” implies more than simply the methods you intend to use to collect data. It is often necessary to include a consideration of the concepts and theories which underlie the methods. For instance, if you intend to highlight a specific feature of a sociological theory or test an algorithm for some aspect of information retrieval, or test the validity of a particular system, you have to show that you understand the underlying concepts of the methodology.
When you describe your methods it is necessary to state how you have addressed the research questions and/or hypotheses. The methods should be described in enough detail for the study to be replicated, or at least repeated in a similar way in another situation. Every stage should be explained and justified with clear reasons for the choice of your particular methods and materials.
There are many different ways to approach the research that fulfils the requirements of a dissertation. These may vary both within and between disciplines. It is important to consider the expectations and possibilities concerning research in your own field. You can do this by talking to your tutors and looking at dissertations written by former students on your course.

I have been doing technology foresight for a number of years now on the level of scenario design, primarily. I want to become more rigorous with research methodology and statistical methods. I want to shift from creating clever SF scenarios to being a professional forecaster able to make rigorous predictions.

Dear Dr. Shafagat Mahmudova,
For a research objective the process of conceiving, modeling, analyzing of systems and inputs is known as research methodology.
What is Research Methodology?

In simple terms, methodology can be defined as, giving a clear cut idea on what methods or process the researcher is going to use in his or her research to achieve research objectives. In order to plan for the whole research process at a right point of time and to advance the research work in the right direction, carefully chosen research methodology is very critical. In other words; what is Research methodology can be answered as it maps out the whole research work and gives credibility to whole effort of the researcher.
More over methodology guides the researcher to involve and to be active in his or her particular field of enquiry.
Right from selecting the topic and carrying out the whole research work till recommendations; research methodology drives the researcher and keeps him on the right track. The entire research plan is based on the concept of right methodology.
Further, through methodology the external environment constitutes the research by giving an in depth idea on setting the right research objective, followed by literature point of view, based on that chosen analysis through interviews or questionnaires findings will be obtained and finally concluded message by this research.
On the other hand from the methodology, the internal environment constitutes by understanding and identifying the right type of research, strategy, philosophy, time horizon, approaches, followed by right procedures and techniques based on his or her research work.Research methodology acts as the nerve center because the entire research is bounded by it and to perform a good research work, the internal and external environment has to follow the right methodology process.

Research Methodology
1) Rigorous Primary Research: Our team of analysts utilizes a comprehensive research methodology, leveraging primary research channels to create both bottoms-up and top-down influenced research models. Annual and quarterly in-depth interviews with more than 100 leading and emerging enterprise vendors and surveys soliciting feedback from hundreds of solution providers and more than 1000 end users represent the foundation of our market analyses and projections.
2) Channel Checks and Data Validation: A vast amount of data from various sources feeds into VDC’s market and forecast models. Ensuring accuracy is critical, and VDC analysts rely on a variety of channel checks, vendor validation, and trend reference to ensure validity and provide the necessary transparency to our methodologies.
3) Secondary Sources: VDC adapts numerous secondary resources including macro-economic indicators, regulatory agencies and industry trade associations, financial filings, and M&A activity among others to provide the most well-rounded insights.

my opinion, Research methodology is understanding research process or basics which has to follow researchers for betterment of their research quality and the preparation of good research.
The theory of how research should be undertaken, including the theoretical and philosophical assumptions upon which research is based and the implications of these for the method or methods adopted (Saunders, 2007).

Simply, it is the most important factor which may lead your research into success or failure.
Better to have more than five phases for a good research.
Research methodology is a way to systematically solve the research problem. It may be
understood as a science of studying how research is done scientifically. In it we study the various
steps that are generally adopted by a researcher in studying his research problem along with the logic
behind them. It is necessary for the researcher to know not only the research methods/techniques
but also the methodology. Researchers not only need to know how to develop certain indices or tests,
how to calculate the mean, the mode, the median or the standard deviation or chi-square, how to
apply particular research techniques, but they also need to know which of these methods or techniques,
are relevant and which are not, and what would they mean and indicate and why. Researchers also
need to understand the assumptions underlying various techniques and they need to know the criteria
by which they can decide that certain techniques and procedures will be applicable to certain problems
and others will not. All this means that it is necessary for the researcher to design his methodology
for his problem as the same may differ from problem to problem. For example, an architect, who
designs a building, has to consciously evaluate the basis of his decisions, i.e., he has to evaluate why
and on what basis he selects particular size, number and location of doors, windows and ventilators,
uses particular materials and not others and the like. Similarly, in research the scientist has to expose
the research decisions to evaluation before they are implemented. He has to specify very clearly and
precisely what decisions he selects and why he selects them so that they can be evaluated by others also.
Research methodology is a systematic way to solve a problem. It is a science of studying how research is to be carried out. Essentially, the procedures by which researchers go about their work of describing, explaining and predicting phenomena are called research methodology

I think that research methodology is the flow of the steps research takes: a path or journey round your research; what steps you are going to take to start and finish your research. Research method is the specific procedure you are going to use to accomplish your research. If methodology comprises of the components of the research and how they relate and flow then method is is the specific procedure e.g. an interview. Research methodology becomes wider than research method or research method is a part of research methodology.
