I joined academia for a number of reasons, but mainly for the opportunity to be able to discuss, write and publish ideas honestly and impartially. Yet, I think I am getting somewhat desillusioned by often forgetting that it is also a profession  that lends itself to the pitfalls of mankind. This has led me to question the very meaning of the term intellectual honestty.

I would be grateful for any feedbacl on this.
