When I first read Jugaad innovation by Navi Radjou and colleagues, I was so impressed that I phoned a friend in Zimbabwe to inform him of my recent enlightenment. As I progressed in reading the book, things made a lot of sense and I was asking myself a multitude of questions. I then realised that there is potential, great innovative potential. How can such potential be leveraged with jugaad innovation if it is taught in schools. Perhaps this is the long awaited solution to improve the lives of many.
I would be grateful for any further insight on this.

Yes. Group and individual projects assigned to learners would help them to acquire the needed skills to be innovative...that is what undergirds the Jugaad innovation. However, such tasks should be aimed at exploring the creativity of learners without setting strict conventions for them to follow. Best regards

The six principles of Jugaad are: Seek opportunity in adversity, Do more with less, Think and act flexible, Keep it simple, Include the margin and Follow your heart. For the time being these principles can be delivered through training courses and workshops, and can be taught in lectures in the near future.

Jugaad is an Indian Hindi word and refers to innovative solution to a localized problem. Jugaad innovation is the outcome of spontaneous application of experience based creative mind leading to innovative solution to a localized problem, and therefore, cannot be taught in the class room. I agree with Prof sushil that challenging situation must be created to trigger the creative instincts of the students.
well I think you can show examples at schools and stimulate students with nice stories. But what I observed in my research is that frugal and jugaad innovation notions usually side-line other, more important problems. That are... what are the cause of scarcity and poverty? why certain people are excluded from consumption or from resource allocation? I think what you should teach student is to think critically about the political reasons behind poverty and how to act to address them! frugal innovation and jugaad can't solve social exclusion and poverty.
While many writings, at large and in the thread, elucidates the benefits of Jugaad, especially in/for a resource-constrained context, with its efficient boons there are certain dark spots which should not be ignored. Jugaad can often be illegal, unsafe, unsustainable, and short-sighted. These parameters must be considered in various problem-contexts with 'six principles' suggested above by Mahfuz Judeh.
