From my experience, it will take much longer for hot plate to heat up the reaction due to the loss of heat, especially in the hood. I would rather use oil bath to heat the reaction solution and with 5% temperature increase for the desired temperature. If I need 100 oC for reaction solution, i will set the oil bath for 105 oC.

First, heat the plate, and then do the synthesis of nanoparticles on it.
