From my ambitious view-point, the aim of a true didactics must be to create autodidactic men, that is to say, after some guided period of time the pupil must be able to continue learning as a self-taught man. In other words, the main task of a teacher consists of becoming himself unnecessary for his pupils.

To my knowledge, It means self-learning. To answer your question of how it starts, I would say it starts when the child is inside the mother's womb. Nobody teaches the (yet to be born) baby to kick his/her mother. Another example is that of the primitive reflexes that a baby possess after birth. So, I would say it is not an acquired phenomenon, rather an adaptive mechanism that depends upon one's own needs.
Coming to how it is stimulated in learning process, autodidacticism is neither a formal learning nor it is informal. For example, consider a student learning a lesson in the classroom, he might find the same lesson being taught by two teachers in two different ways. But, the manner in which the student understands that lesson (upon reading the textbook once again) is due to autodidactistic behaviour.
Thank you Mr.Tarancon for your view on it. Yes, I feel the same way of guidance period and then true autodidacticism. What is the role of cognitive ability and ingenious behaviour on autodidacticism..?
Autodidacticism, like other intelligent actions are the result of a lot of different capabilities and skills; hence we must be focused on some noticeable ones.
It is my view-point that it is the result of an ambivalence, namely, understanding/non-understanding. The understanding capability is the condition sine qua non for any learning process. However, the motor of autodidacticism is the curiosity. Curiosity is excited by those phenomena that one cannot understand, but give rise to a necessity of being understood.
What is the cause of this necessity? They are uncountable: there are psicologic motivations, professional, utilitarian, erotical, academic, economic and so on.
