Hi everyone,
Can you please let me know as to what is expected to happen when Ag and Au nanoparticles synthesized by Turkevich method (citrate capped) are mixed. Will the solution be stable or Ag and Au would react in some way. Are there any publications that would answer this querry.
Or, is there a method to get a Stable solution containing both Ag and Au nanoparticles, if simple mixing is not the way. Kindly let me know.

My guess is that you'll get precipitation and aggregation unless the properties of the continuous phase (pH, concentration, ionic make-up) are identical in the 2 starting systems. Best case is that you'll have a mix of particles. Remember that the 'Ag' particles are actually Ag2O on the surface. You'll not get an alloy unless you start with a mix of the Ag and Au salts in solution combined with an appropriate co-reduction scheme. See also (registration required):
