It is routine to preserve stem cells in controlled rate freezers using pulsed nitrogen gas into a sealed chamber where the products are in bags, have been perfused with DMSO and a fixed number of MNCs. My question is  onnce the heat of fusion occurs, a crystal latice is formed, what happens, if anything to the latice as the temperature drops to -200C? I know that electrons slow down in absolute zero, but how if at all does this affect the latice?
