I saw a setup from a phd thesis saying that this was used for terahertz generation from laser induced plasma. I see four peaks in this picture, so what physical quantities do these four peaks corresponding to? Since the magnitude of the residual current is positive and negative, do these four peaks indicate residual current?
There may one possibility that it represents an optical system of solitons and antisolutions.
In continuation, there may might be another possibility that it depicts the spatial heteropolar potential distribution sourced due to a system of dissimilar electric charges.
It is liable to be the laser-induced dipole moment or current which is going to emit the THz radiation. It is unlikely to be the laser field because the incoming laser is denoted with an arrow. If laser field is a 1 or 2 cycle pulse then it is possible that the peaks are the peak field. Without more context it is hard to say exactly.
