I'm writing about extraction solutions and extraction of secondary metabolite from fungi. I'm trying to find an argument for using multiple solvents with different polarities instead of just one solvent. Does using more solvents with different polarities increase the possibility to extract more metabolites? Does the different solvents keep their individual polarities after mixing or do they "mix". It may be a stupid question, but i can't seem to figure it out.

Thank you!
