Dear Madhusmita, I know Ehrlich reagent is used to detect indole alkaloids and in these cases blue, green, violet and red colors can appear.

Thanks for your reply mam, but does it indicate the presence of any particular indole which may be baeocystin or any other analogue of any indole.

I would caution anyone from drawing conclusions about any specimen including mushrooms on the basis of a colorimetric reaction as described here. Such methods are nonspecific and unreliable. Poisonings due to mis-ID of mushrooms happen every year. The colorimetric methods might be better applied to thin layer chromatography using chemical standards of the compounds you are seeking. HPLC with diode-array and/or mass spec detection may be even better. It is difficult to draw any conclusions about the color change of biomass, especially when lives are in the balance. I would refer to a mycologist to ID the organism, and then literature search from there.
