Yes there is a great benefit:-
1 - the availability of colleagues, you do not have to make sure of their specialization.
2 - The papers you publish, gaining new space, because the site's high visibility
3 - You can benefit from ideas, articles and studies to renew your ideas and scientific projects
Beside the public visibility of our researches, the broad area of scientific fields of the researchers on RG permits the achievement of new knowledge other than one specialty and useful communication with colleagues.
It is extremely useful for the scholars to be on the research gate and interact with each other. RG is a good platform to be in touch eith the fraternity. The stuff available on RG makes the effort easier for the researchers. The questions that one comes across during the research are already faced by other researchers in the past. So it serves as a guide.
Very interesting question. Time is lost here, provided you've turned it into a chat. Personally, I found interesting articles and contacted people with whom we would help professionally. These days I do not go in because I have a lot of teaching work, but I still look from time to time.

RG is gateway of knowledge , Knowledge is power & has no limit & as such knowledge cannot be measured in totality & as such knowledge to be viewed on individual basic & only individual have to become the judge for their knowledge in their impartial manner

It is useful for finding the relevant research papers. Also some disscusions are interesting.
It is very useful for finding full research papers and discussing with other researchers.
In my opinion, it is much more better than spending time on social media, though it may not be a good comparison. In term of finding scientific articles, papers, different topic of discussions, asking any scientific queries, from one hand and finding academic colleagues and friends globally and growing your professional research and scientific network, from the other, without considering any sort of limitations, is indeed a beneficial activity.
For me it is fun and work , I used to answer only tech questions so i would relive my old profession (teaching) ...I used to write only in the weekends , it is now I am living on/in RG :)
RG is considered research community with very good discussion!

While I do read some articles for intelectual fun, I find this service extremely valuable for my work. I love the global aspect of sharing research. I am not a researcher. I learn a lot from the results of reseach that apply to my field.
Yes, indeed it is helpful in many ways like getting the latest update about : (a) research in my area of expertise and interest, (b) the researches conducted by my colleague and friends, (c) the technical question and discussion related to my area of interests. Moreover, it is also a suitable platform for social networking of researcher around the globe, which ultimately pave the way for future collaborations.

A scientist needs to share his experiences with others to get a feedback, an advice or maybe a correction to something not done properly. There is usually a limited number of scientists to interact within the same institution. With RG you have the whole world in your fingertips. You can find scientists with similar specialty, line of thinking, research or ambition. One can achieve a lot with interaction and/or collaboration. So, time with RG can be very productive.
It's not the time here for fun, but to know and learn about the researchers ' culture and experience, which gives us greater knowledge and time here is part of our business requirements and teaches us not to rest and relax

RG is a marvellous platform by which researchers from different countries and educational institutions exchange ideas on various educational and scientific fields that are beneficial and very useful and interesting as well.

There are some scientific benefits but there is tendency to use this as social media and have "fun." The creators of the platform have known that the Pavlovian effect of the rewards system can be powerful and can allure people into it.
There is no fun in the search portal but there is a benefit by exchanging ideas and information and increasing the general culture
A lot of activities on RG are being done to just increase the RG score. Unnecessary recommendations, questions and answers, sharing of articles take up too much time. RG should stop the scoring feature.

It depends on your assumptions about the participants on RG.
Are they intelligent, rational persons? Are they able to think about the best ways to spend their time?
Or do you think they are stupid, uneducated, ill-informed, irrational, emotionally driven, and unable to make decisions for themselves?
Or is spending time on RG a medical condition (disease), such as addiction, and it is beyond the control of the individuals. In that case, we should advise them to seek medical help right away.
