These rice shaped minerals were found on some of my Upper Triassic slides from Italy.
If anyone has any idea what they might be or how they got there, I haven't changed my slide preparation method and yet I have them on 4 of them, please let me know.
these are in a palynological slide, yes ?
Thus it withstanded grinding, HCl and HF, right ?
could it be neoformed ?
what is the size of these grains ?

the most similar items I could found are Charcot-Leiden crystals
did your process include sone proteins ?
The rice-shaped minerals found on your Upper Triassic slides could be calcite crystals, silica, or iron oxide precipitates. These minerals may form due to conditions during sample preparation or in the environment, especially if there has been evaporation or supersaturation. If your slide preparation method hasn’t changed, it’s possible they are contaminants introduced during handling or storage.

Yes those are palynological slides and I did follow those steps (grinding, HCl and HF …)
The crystals are roughly 50 to 100 um (micromètres)
It could be neoformed but we have no idea how
Many years ago, I analyzed something similar from a palynological specimen using XRD. It was a mixture of fluorides, mainly FeF3 and AlF3.
