I'm assembling a battery inside a part that is sealed with an acrylic plate. However, when I seal it still inside of the glovebox, the lithium gets oxidized, indicating that there is residual oxygen/water on the Acrylic plate. I have tried pumping down the plate overnight in the antechamber and that helped a little, but the Li still oxidizes after a few hours. Does anyone know of any cleaning treatments that could work? Thanks!
May be you can wash the sheet with solvents like alcohol or acetone and then put it in anti-chamber
Or heat the sheet to 60-70 followed by degassing under vacuum
Are you sure PMMA can work in a lithium battery? In my opinion, even more stable polymers are unstable in contact with lithium. And the problem is not in adsorbed water and oxygen. From my experience - only PP is stable in these conditions (it is main material for separators not in vain). Each fluorine, chlorine and oxygen containing material must be initially suspicious.
Dont try alcohols with PMMA, it will likely crack. Acetone will dissolve PMMA. I am not sure if its stable in contact with lithium.
Maybe you can try oxygen scavengers. Same for water, long term drying maybe works better with hygroscopic substances.
