What could be the reason for increased OD (instead of decreasing) with increasing standard conc. in alkaline DMSO method (NBT assay) ?

I am using alkaline DMSO method (NBT dye) for superoxide anion scavenging. According to principle of this assay there should be decrease in absorbance with increase in ascorbic acid concentration. But, in my experiment an increasing trend in absorbance is observed instead. What could be the reason and how to troubleshoot this ?
