Syngeneic transplantation is useful to induce the intrinsic phenotype of melanoma cells. Please keep in mind that melanin non-producing melanoma cells such as SK-MEL-28 and MeWo become to synthesize enough amount of melanin, so that the tumor tissue becomes black with central necrosis.
