Most of the times, result verification is limited to detailed comparisons with analytic methods, available experimental data or other published results that are published in an article. However, the code used to produce the results is not available for others to use. Should researchers submit their code to a repository (e.g. github) to allow reproducibility of the published work?
It's better to share the code used, but we risk our work if this code falls into the wrong hands.
Yes, from transparency point of view, researchers should submit their reproducible codes to a repository as @Dimitra Anevlavi or as a supplementary file of the article.
In an ideal world the source code should be provided as an online supplement. Indeed, this is required for publications using some freely available databases. However, this allows others to plagiarise your work. I do not recommend this unless it is mandatory…
