I have been studying art everyday life in Netherlands of the 17th century and I always come up to same traditional ways of interpretation
I will not answer you I don't know how, I'm just so curious about what you call “traditional ways of interpretation". Which are they? Are they the same in your and in my country and culture? I come from Portugal; the roots of our culture are mainly republican and catholic. I feel so many times that all our ways of interpretation are clearly marked by catholic religious thinking and in the other hand by the republican way of looking to the world.
Victor Stoichita has recently been translated to Portuguese and I’m reading it with enthusiasm. I might change completely my "reading gridline" for works of art after reading it.

All become possible when you can free yourself of the idea that a work of art has one historically correct and final interpretation.
No art scientist ever reached that level of freedom.
