Dear Deraa, I am not satisfied with the non classroom students' activities. Though they have a very important role, it seems to me that many students are only hanging on Facebook, and the are almost no activities for them. That is my opinion extracted from my teaching practice.
It depends on the students as long as they are enthusiastic . I had a batch of young nursing students who volunteered (upon my request) to do medical checkups for kids (teenagers ) in a public school .
My students , had a blood donation group ( I would also join them)
My younger students did fund raising and donated to oraganization of special needs kids.
Connecting with the community is very very important .
To me, making attention is not enough as they are weak in learning as well as memorizing. Appropriate question setting, related to the main focus of the subject matter we are teaching our students is an important issue. To avoid such inconsistency, I always prepare my lectures targeting to the most weak student(s) in the class, which helps me to teach properly to all category students. More pictorial or presentation containing images is always preferable to all.
Every aspect of the curriculum for learners in colleges is designed to make the student a full-fledged member of the society who is able to fit appropriately while performing assigned duties to enhance the development of their societies. The non-classroom activities in the educational curriculum are EQUALLY BENEFICIAL like the classroom components. Both of them play DISTINCTIVE but KEY ROLES in helping learners achieve all the expected learning outcomes. Best regards
Educational and non-classroom activities are complementary and necessary for students to complete their study. The non-classroom activities should be placed in a specific program that is not open, for the purpose of benefiting from these activities
Thank you so much for sharing this important question.
I see that the non-classroom activities for the college students or secondary and primary pupils are very necessary to develope the individual skills .
non-classroom activities are as important as classroom activities and should be given equal weight-age in colleges and universities... participating in sports activities, spending some times in fitness centers, cultural programs, inter-college competitions and social-service activities....it makes them both physically and mentally fit & strong, more polished and more tolerant and more empathy towards people and society...
I have appreciated the reading of the contributions and, in particular, the inclusion aspect in the society, the students of the higher education, needs to be observed, as mentioned by the @Selvam Ramasamy.
I believe that non classroom activities are crucial to teaching students to be scholar-practitioners and to apply what they learn to their chosen fields. I also believe that field work, and excursions bring real world experience into their learning. It shows them how to conduct research and live the experience of whatever they are learning in class, bringing it to life.
Volunteer work and community service is a way that students can apply what they learn in class by givnig back to their communities to those in need.
non class activities like (1) sports (2) debating (3) excursions (4) reading sessions in library are extremely crucial in grooming and education of a student.
A proper orientation for new students are very important. It should be done for all over the City, University and their departments.
Excursions are crucial and, should be focused on both their field of interest and social.
Cultural activities are very important for their social development which can be a contribution to the society and academic world by providing high quality human resource.
Some social activities like celebration diners, cultural tours etc. should be set up by their department to increase communication between faculties and students.
University originated enjoyable activities can increase the loyalty and motivation supported by it.
Internships and student exchange programs should have been encouraged to give students a chance to gain valuable experience also.
All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy (a proverb). It means that without time off from work, a person becomes both bored and boring. The exact origins of the phrase remain unclear, though it was recorded as early as 1659 (Wikipedia).
During lectures with my students, for some time they look tired or bored so I chat with them or give them funny examples with relation to the course being taught before continuing with lecture. Later, if I ask them if they are tired, they will say no and will ask me to continue with the lectures. So during lectures, I study my students. One semester, a student approached me that he can never forgot my lectures even when asked a question on it in the future because of the way I handle them.
Non-classroom activities play a great role in building the students 'scientific scruples and increasing their creativity through practicing these activities of all kinds. They have a great role in highlighting and developing literary and scientific talents and contributed greatly to their awareness in cultural fields. For example, reading in the library has a great role in expanding students' And increase their linguistic balance and also helps to modify their trends and instill values beautiful and authentic and for this to create the activity of the school library, which has many goals
1 - to encourage students to read and read.
2 - Training students to read silent and understanding of what he read.
3 - to acquire the skill of speech and speech fluently what he read.
4 - The student will know how to distribute the books on the shelves and office borrowings.
Other activities include trips and trips with many goals
* Used as a means of entertainment.
* Survival of learning impact.
* Direct learning tool.
* Develop a sense of beauty of nature and scenic views.
Out-of-Classroom activities constitute a great percentage of things that we do on a daily basis. It is therefore imperative for students to develop their thinking and reasoning abilities in this area if they are to become useful and competent people in the society. It also fosters outside-the-box thinking which is a very important trait in problem solvers.
Non-classroom activities is important as the exposure helps students develop skills. - an avenue for them to apply what they learn in the textbook, lecture, etc. This approach equips students with skills on conducting research - experiment what they are learning in class.
Getting involved in teaching, research, professional societies, or clubs of interest are advised. Students should use their extra-curriculum activities to develop their communication skills, confirm their interest in the future professions.
Also, getting familiar with the culture, history, music, sport activities allow for personal development of a harmonized contemporary person ready for many facets of life appearances.
Extracurricular activities are indispensable for students, and I encourage students to take advantage of all the extracurricular activities they have time for. In fact, at McPherson College I am the faculty advisor for the student organization Reasonable Faith, which shows the compatibility between critical thinking and religious belief.
Non-Classroom Activity Generally includes activities outside of class time or during class time which tend to require vehicle, bus, or skytrain transportation to other parts of the city. These may start or end at a location other than the classroom or normal meeting location. This can also include overnight activities.
In the current trend where in the skill development is at scare, may be focus can be emphasized towards the hobby of the individual students and develop the skill sets
very helpful, if those activities are educational students will gain the maximum knowledge of if because they are different from what they experience every day, and if the activities are non-academic (sports or social for example) they are still very useful in terms of releasing stress and building social bonds among colleagues...
Analyses of findings reveal that students who were exposed to the classroom and non-classroom environmental intervention module significantly improved their environmental values as compared to their counterparts in the control group. When gender effect was measured, it was found that significant improvement occurred within both the female and male groups.
Article The effectiveness of classroom and non classroom activities ...
I am guess its still have the same value of the classroom activities , the non- classroom and classroom activities are complementary to each other and missing one them surely decrease the value of the second for students ,, Best regards ,, J awad Ali
Students will definitely benefited with non-classroom activities like onsite projects, discussion forums, quiz programme, out door activity etc which will enhance their understanding capacity as well as their adoptability with a group of people and surroundings.
