The decision to merge many colleges in one college, usually, is taken to cut costs, However, it should take on consideration the impact of such merging on the quality of the different aspects of the academic activities within merged colleges.
This is like having one big country. I think it would be stifling to creativity and imagination.
I think this idea is good for creating an integrated scientific workshop that has a successful product both at the level of education and scientific research

The idea of uniting colleges within a particular institution is not novel. In my institution, six colleges have been united into one big university. This is just to ensure internal quality assurance and also to manage effectively academic standards and resources.
Effective higher learning education pivots on specialization of courses run by independent colleges under the university umbrella as K.N.U.S.T. of Ghana sets a shining example.

Depends on the growth rate .... essentially it is difficult to be at one place if all ready established in different places
Integration or coming to unique has its own advantages and disadvantages... better based on the prospect and requirement the appropriate decision can be taken up
More students, money, possibility of enhancing or creating reputation, providing wider range of courses. The process I've noticed here in the UK, since the widening of education into the private sector, is the amalgamation of local colleges in pursuit of possible university status with all the accompanying kudos.

Tough thing to do , speciality is well developed , consolidation is not a good option (I guess)
Well everybody shearing his opinion are very right in the content of their ideas but for me i think there is no need for that because the system have design a way of intellectual transfer from one institutions to another by virtue of Sabbatical and visiting lecturer that will move from their institution to another to learn how things are done and to show how things are been done in his own institution. by so doing all lapses that need merging should have been captured.
Mainly the economic reasons working behind that concept.
I think, the present system of College- University will be changed dramatically within a decade or two.

In India the concept of cluster universities is already running successfully. Under this concept, a group of colleges functioning in a city or a larger locale, generally operating in a close proximity with each other, say in a radius of 5 to 10 km are brought under the ambit of cluster university, the functioning of such universities is monitored from one identified college, preferably located at central place. all these colleges apart from their routine courses are supposed to run PG and research programmes.

Yes, it is possible to unite many colleges in one college. The HEAD of the college must be willing to accommodate diverse views without taking sides and stand for justice. When colleagues see that the head is not bought over by a particular group, they willing be willing to cooperate with him or her.
Also, it is easier to unite colleagues when there is a common agender that every one agrees to and must be achieved.
When one doesn't have enough time and other resources to execute the whole investigation work that one is able to devise it is required the help of colleagues, then the synergy in the work of all the participants in common work arises. It is this way that unites the work of different colleagues to achieve common results.

Sometimes centralization is good. You can get better results.
I think such unification would be helpful if the individual institutions need to share faculty or research facilities or if the individual institutions are struggling financially but would improve their financial standing through a shared budget.
yes, it is not a novel idea and I agree with the statement of Dr Ramesh Pandita. this type of educational system existed in some parts of India.

The global trend is prefer the fine specifications in the study, and every year we find a new branch of sciences is born, so when we collect many colleges in one that mean we will study / teach the general science field.

when the courses and curriculum are same when we want to have best fraternity put together at one place to teach the students....then they may combine 2-3 institutes together instead of increasing the number.
In recent times 2 biggest units of colleges got merger in our state, i.e., Narayana and Chaitanya....definitely students will have less stress to select better college as the bigger colleges got better teaching staff
