MALDI-TOF mass-spectrometry for Aspergillus spp.: characteristics of mass-spectra and effectiveness of new spectra library for species identification
Ribosomal subunit protein typing using matrix-assisted laser desorption ionization time-of-flight mass spectrometry (MALDI-TOF MS) for the identification and discrimination of Aspergillus species.
First of all, thank you for your answer, I recommended the use of MALDI-TOF as a molecular typing technique because it is the only one I confirmed for Penicillium, that's why I could not recommend other techniques. However, you will be more expert in terms of molecular typing technique namely the technique you've cited.
I looked at some articles that used microsatellite PCR with good discriminatory power. The need for sequencing remains a limitation to this method.
On the other hand, I find that there is perhaps potential for future development of mass spectrometry in fungal identification and typing but there is a lot of standardization that needs to be done.
