Other than government spendings / stimulus bills, what are other feasible solutions that can be implemented to mitigate the poverty problem that has been exacerbated by the current covid 19 pandemic?
In the whole epidemic development cycle, enterprises will face four core challenges: cost saving; employee health and work efficiency; risk evolution; and risk management and business promotion.
Companies should actively manage their balance sheets and seek cost savings that can be incorporated into risk management plans, as any savings achieved during and after an epidemic may affect the viability of the business during and after the pandemic.
The organization must conduct adequate communication, provide sufficient employee benefits and staff resources to ensure the sustainable development of the business and help employees maintain participation and efficiency in the epidemic cycle.
Businesses will be forced to adapt to the disruptions and changes brought about by the epidemic. Epidemics may lead to increased liability and risk in the short and long term, or lead to new responsibilities or risks. Since the risk profile of an enterprise may look very different before and after an epidemic, the identification of insurable risk and the analysis of insurance gap become very important, which can ensure that the risk profile of the enterprise is updated in time and fully understood by decision makers and major stakeholders.
During the epidemic period, it is very important for enterprises to continuously adjust their business continuity strategy, focus on the future, respond, recover and plan. For enterprises, this is also a rare opportunity. Enterprises can take this opportunity to readjust their risk management plans, and consider rebuilding the cooperative relationship with customers by purchasing value-added insurance for their products, so as to create income for enterprises.
One solution that works is to provide a universal living wage. This has been tried in Canada and the USA. The results were noteworthy. Less stress, stronger work habits, much better health (including mental heath) and increased education possibilities. The whole economy picks up because people feel valued. Most people do want to get ahead. A lot less bureaucracy and policing required. Counter-intuitive to current economic theories I know.
