Hello! I am a doctoral student at Shanghai University of Sport. The method I used to calculate corticomuscular coherence is based on the fieldtrip official tutorial “https://www.fieldtriptoolbox.org/tutorial/coherence/”.

My experimental action was to ask the subjects to first memorize an angular position, and then reproduce the right elbow joint angular position. During the reproduction (flexion) process, EEG and EMG were collected synchronously. Our group discussion thought that this type of movement does not meet the requirements for calculating EEG-EMG coupling, because the force value produced by the muscle during flexion is not constant, nor is it isometric contraction. Therefore, my question is whether the experimental action of angular position reproduction can be calculated by the conventional cross-spectrum method for corticomuscular coherence?

What are the requirements for muscle force production when calculating CMC?
