Empathy, positive reinforcement, be open to all kinds of questions (many students did not get a solid study technique or even basic education skills from their former schools), share not only your knowledge but your experience with it. To me the most important quality of a good teacher is kindness. S/he should be KIND. Other qualities include, but not limited to, being friendly, a wonderful personality, knowledgeable in the field of study, good listener, and etc.
According to Opatha, & Teong, (2014) personal quality is considered as an essential factor that determines a person’s development, others’ development, institutional development and nation development. Opatha, & Teong, (2014) state that personal quality is perceived as a concept considering of three dimensions such as,
1. Personal Character: the totality of persistent moral qualities a person has
2. Personal Management: the totality of attributes in planning and controlling a person’s life for achieving his or her life goals without wasting time, energy and available resources

Strict but kind. High moral and values , still down to earth. Helps in overall growth of students. He himself is active leaner and provide best knowledge to students.
The qualities of a good professor are: Clarity in basic concepts, good integrity, ethically sound, competency, passionate, no dereliction of duty, command over language, humble, a good researcher, full of resources, punctual, highly disciplined, having willingness to share his knowledge, and over and above he must be a good human being and a good teacher.

A good teacher can inspire hope , improve the learners' power of imagination, and motivate them to understand the true worth of learning. Overall, good teachers should have the following qualities. You did not specify the definition of a professor. Do you mean professor as an academic title? I see a mix of answers about academic and teacher roles. Both do not have to come hand in hand. I had plenty examples of very bad teacher and good academic performer and other way around.
Teacher need not to know! Note that knowledge transfer days are all in the past. Neither is a teacher "sending" or speaking the whole time. In fact the teacher's role is to activate student and sharpen his skills. If student is not willing you can talk, he will sleep. If student is not ready you can be a book of wisdom, he will stare on his phone.
Character of a teacher plays also minor role. Once students know your style and expectations they will adapt a matching coping strategy. Teacher need only behave predictably (integrity).
