Solvent- Water, catalyst- vanadium on titanium, liquid phase oxidation, intermediate oxidation product- pyridine 3-carboxaldehyde

Main product will be 3-methylpyridin-1-oxide. See attached file (sorry, only in Czech, but tables and schemes are understandable). For oxidation of methyl group is suitable KMnO4/OH- (formed MnO2 may be solubilized by oxalic acid action) or K2Cr2O7/H+ both in water solution.
