Many researchers write / publish few scientific papers however others may publish more and may be much more, if compared what are the merits and demerits in between these situations. It is certain that many factors, facilities, knowledge, experience, team spirit and personal tendencies / efforts accounts for such differences. It would be great if few RG members discuss their opinions and ideas regarding this issue.

If we are writing more papers with group efforts definitely will improve the paper quality. My opinion is that persistent writing is needed to improve the writing skill of a person. If a person continuously writing >15-20 years with persistently, his papers definitely will a good quality. Scientific writing needs a good editing skills because it should need a flow while reading, long writing without proper editing effect readability of specific paper. These qualities only develop by persistent and continuous writing of scientific papers.

Hello Kuldeep, as researchers we would like to publish, when there is something worthwhile to share, and must be shared for the progress of science. Most people may think that more is better, but for some of us, our time is more used up for teaching. So that available time (left from teaching and other duties) is one factor whether we publish more or less.
If we are able to spend more time to solve research problems, we can publish more. If we collaborate with others we may publish more. But I would be more concerned about the quality of what I publish, not just the quantity.
I agree with Miranda.
Quality should matter not the number of publications.

Dear Subir, Quality can be maintained if papers are being drafted/compiled by experts including experienced seniors in a team spirit - contributed, checked, modified & edited by all in a series -- I believe such publications passing through good hands / minds and several checks and then peer-reviewed by reviewers of any journal -- when published are of high quality.
