Dear @Vilemar, System theory, Control Systems,Optimal Systems,Fuzzy Systems, Robust Control, Adaptive Control ... are based on the application of different mathematical disciplines starting from differential equations, partial differential equations, matrices, Laplace transform, ....! My field of research and knowledge is impossible without mathematics!
I am a mathematician, I do mathematics for the sake of mathematics, to augment my knowledge of mathematics further. Mendel is a biologist/geneticist used mathematics to formulate his theory of genetics. People of different fields use mathematics to explain and justify their studies, not for the sake of mathematics.
But we can say with certainty the ubiquity of mathematics and its absolute necessity to explain and justify truth in almost any field of human endeavor.
Based on Mendelian genetics, the HARDY-WEINBERG EQUATION is derived for expressing allele frequencies and genotype frequencies in a large population of organisms that mate randomly, with no natural selection, migration or mutation. Besides genetics, there are other areas where mathematicians and biologists, including medical scientists, have a long history of working successfully together, to solve a variety of population problems in demography, ecology, and epidemics.
Mathematics has an aesthetic aspect, and algebraic equations can offer aesthetic enjoyment. My research lies in literature and philosophy. In poetry, meter is mathematical. Often transgressing it makes for better poetry. In philosophy, logic is mathematical.
I studied math and statistics up to B. Com. It is useful for me in day to day life and specifically, in research. However, in management research, math knowledge along with richness in statistics is very essential.
What is the role of mathematics in the expression of spiritual life? Do social people need mathematics to help others, e.g. is sharing based on calculations?
I believe that nature made by mathematical symbols. Math made a lot to me especially in my are of specialization ( sport biomechanic). Without math could not conduct my research and increase its significance.

Sarah if you tell me aproximately how many times you escape from Math, I will tell you that you are already using Math. Think a little bit more and you will have a lot of things to tell us about how you use Math daily.
In nearly every branch of chemistry, math is present. For example, in my industrial chemistry course , I was lecturing this week about calculations in the chemical industry which involve % yield, degree of conversion, efficiency of a process, energy & mass balance, production scaling-up, optimization of a process, process design & plant design, cost-profit analysis, and feasibility studies. Without maths, the scientific departments will be null! as simple as that.
I do not understand why Math is linked to perfection? It is not more than a simplified human-made representation of the world and its complexity? What if we suppose that Math is linked to imperfection because of its simplicity?
@Marcel and all, integer is linked to integrity, yes. Also taken to mean honesty, not exactly the same as perfection (I think).
Maths is linked to imperfection anytime our income and expenses do not balance, when Expenses > Income. May people think that people in life sciences don't like maths, but it's not really so!
Nicely written. B. Russell's thoughts reflect one of the how many billions of view points from today and the past? Does a bird need or use mathematics to express 'beauty'?
In different fields of arts and sciences, the different language idioms of each knowledge branch obscure the relation between such fields. By using numbers as a common language to express different field areas, we discover a big deal of relations which were hidden by language term differences.
An excellent example is this graphic expression of Kamil meter in Arabic Poetry.
